Lynne was born in New Zealand but grew up in Cornwall, as her family returned to the UK in 1967. She studied at Falmouth College of Art and later Cardiff Art College, where she gained a BA [Hons] in 1987. At this time, one of her paintings was also selected for the Whitworth Young Contemporaries. Lynne settled in Wales but retains strong links with Cornwall.
Lynne’s still life oils glow with natural light, giving her subjects a subtle vitality and presence. These subjects rarely dominate her compositions, and there is no ‘hierarchy’ regarding content. Instead each painting works as a cohesive, inner space expressed through intriguing visual language.
In recent years Lynne has studied with renowned fellow artists such as Alice Mumford at the St Ives School of Painting, and Rose Hilton at the Newlyn School of Art. She was elected a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy of the Arts in 2017.
