Showing for February: A series of richly evocative winter scenes by renowned Cornish landscape artist Hannah Woodman.
Painting for Hannah is visceral and a balance between considered, spontaneous and purely accidental. Starting from a simple drawn outline, she works in layers, creating a density of marks, agitating a picture’s surface with scrapes, scratches, splatters and gestures.
" There is something monumentally special about being out in a landscape alone. When I cannot see another single soul and my surroundings stretch far beyond until they drop into the sea, suddenly comprehending my sense of scale in the world becomes exhilarating."
