Salcombe Scene by Rose Hilton
We are delighted to have available a beautiful painting by Cornish artist Rose Hilton. The sensual, enigmatic female figure and delicately luminous colours in 'Salcombe Scene' are reminiscent of work by Bonnard and Matisse and very characteristic of Rose's work.
After the death of her husband, the pre-eminent British abstract artist Roger Hilton, Rose lost no time in establishing herself and showed regularly at David Messum Fine Art in London. A retrospective at Tate St Ives in 2008 and monographs by Andrew Lambirth and her friend Ian Collins, sealed her reputation and her work has become highly collectable. Rose died in 2019, aged 87.
